About the Author

Dewey Friedel has been the Pastor of Shore Christian Center Church, along with his wife Pastor Ronda, for 30 years. Each week as he is called to speak the Word of God, he brings passion, humor and warmth to his messages. Pastor Dewey’s enlightening biblical teachings have influenced and touched the lives of thousands across the world. Not the life he imagined as an adolescent with his sights set on playing professional baseball, Pastor Dewey continues today to live a life for Jesus Christ and the church he calls home.

As a 13-year old athlete, Pastor Dewey saw his future on the baseball field. It was here that his young heart felt strong and at home, with the ability to accomplish life’s greatest dreams. This was also the same spot where he was benched one evening game, prayed to God for a homerun and hit it straight over the fence. That was the moment Pastor Dewey found the Lord and his life was forever changed. From here, he embraced Christianity and began preaching at his father’s church at the age of 15. As he continued through young adulthood Pastor Dewey, class President, was extremely popular and influential among his classmates – a role he would continue to play later in life at his own church. He went on to study politics, partook in acting and performing and even joined a musical group, The Challengers, to fulfill his love for singing. He attended Asbury College and the University of Delaware and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Theological and Historical studies from Oral Roberts University. He also went on to Princeton Theological Seminary to achieve a Master’s degree in Divinity Studies.

Around the age of 22 at a local Methodist Church, Pastor Dewey met his mentor and dear friend, Pastor Ern Baxter. From this inspirational man, Pastor Dewey always felt an internal and spiritual strength. He learned how to break down the “walls” of a church home and teach Christianity as a living organism within the open world. This fueled Pastors Dewey and Ronda to travel to Africa and share the Word. Speaking to thousands the couple showed locals how to begin their own businesses and live a life of success, as Jesus desires. Crusades following Africa also took place in India and all over the world.

In 1977, he and Ronda founded Shore Christian Center Church in Wall, NJ which ministers to the needs of people in the Jersey Shore area. With only 87 members, Pastor Dewey knew the area’s potential and continued to preach wholeheartedly. The church has seen growth since that time and reached over 1,000 members. The campus also includes Shore Christian Academy for K-8th graders, and the church has adopted countless ministries within the community. In addition, Pastor Dewey’s first book “Real Men Wear Boxer Shorts” and television ministry “Peak Performance for Life” have helped to foster the great commission of serving the Lord and spreading the Word.

When asked what Biblical character to which he most relates he said, “David. He is the masculine soul in me, the epitome of action heroes. Though still poetic, tender and cries before the Lord. He is a lover of people.” Pastor Dewey’s proudest accomplishment is his 36-year marriage to the same beautiful & steadfast woman, Ronda.
